How to Disable the ASUS Eee PC TouchPad

Updated February 21, 2017

The Asus Eee PC is a netbook-style, small laptop computer. It features a touchpad located in front of the keyboard. This touchpad can be disabled. You may find this advantageous if you're using an external mouse instead of the touchpad and wish to avoid accidental input to the computer when you're using the keyboard.

Use the cursor to click on the "Start" button located in the lower, left-hand side of the desktop. Click on "Control Panel."

Double click on the icon labelled "Mouse." This will bring up a pop-up box with settings for the touchpad, labelled "Mouse properties."

Click on the tab at the top of the pop-up box labelled "Device settings." On the next window, click on the button that says "Disable." Click "OK" on the warning and the touchpad will be disabled.

Don't disable the touchpad unless you have an external mouse connected.
