Drivers are software utilities which are used to send and receive information from the various components of your computer such as CD drives, USB ports and network adaptors. If you have a bad or corrupted driver on your system, the device associated with that driver may no longer work. You can easily repair a faulty driver by updating the driver through the Windows Update software. You don't have to spend any money on additional software--you can easily update and repair your drivers for free.
