Drivers are software utilities which are used to send and receive information from the various components of your computer such as CD drives, USB ports and network adaptors. If you have a bad or corrupted driver on your system, the device associated with that driver may no longer work. You can easily repair a faulty driver by updating the driver through the Windows Update software. You don't have to spend any money on additional software--you can easily update and repair your drivers for free.

    Click the "Start" menu and go to the search box above it.

    Click the search box and type "update" into the box.

    Press "Enter" and wait for the Windows Update icon to appear.

    Click on it and then click the "Check for updates" button on the left side of the software window.

    Wait for the computer to scan for driver updates and then click the "Install Updates" button at the bottom of the software screen.

    Restart your computer for the updates to take effect.
