The Sony Bravia is a line of high-definition TV sets, each equipped with different input jacks for connecting to other components. Hooking up a Bravia to a home theatre system requires only a video cable since the TV's built-in speakers are not used for the surround sound effects that home theatre provides. A Bravia can be connected with either a high definition media interface (HDMI) or component RGB video cable, depending on the jacks available on the home theatre system.
Turn off the Bravia by pressing the power button on the remote or front control panel.
Plug in an HDMI cable into the HDMI OUT port on the back of the home theatre receiver with the narrow edge of the cable plug pointing down. If the receiver does not have HDMI, connect the red, green and blue plugs on a component video cable to the matching Component OUT jacks. Each jack has a colour stripe around the rim that matches the video plugs.
Hook up the other end of the HDMI cable to one of the HDMI IN ports on the back of the Sony Bravia, or connect the RGB component video plugs to the Component IN jacks.
