How do I decorate for a golf party?
Host a golf-themed party to celebrate the golfer in your life. (Golf Walk image by Kathy D from Fotolia.com)

Plan a golf party to celebrate any special occasion for a golf aficionado or use a golf theme for any gathering with golfers. Your golf-themed party can take on a formal or informal feel. Use golf-related decorations to set the tone for the party and create a relaxed atmosphere conducive to a round of golf.

Instructions

  1. 1

Hang lights across the room or between trees for an outdoor party. Simple miniature white lights will add a soft twinkle for a formal party during the evening or decorate round white paper lanterns to look like golf balls for a casual party.

  2. 2

Use green and white streamers for a golf theme. Tie white balloons with green ribbon to contribute to the golf feel. Or you can use Mylar golf ball- and golf club-shaped balloons as well.

  3. 3

Hang pictures or posters of famous golfers, legendary golf courses or closeups of golf clubs or balls around the party room. Use poster board, scissors and markers to make a banner; golf terms, such as "hole-in-one" or "birdie," would be appropriate.

  4. 4

Set the table with a plain white tablecloth for a formal party or an argyle cloth for a colourful alternative. Create your own tablecloth to look like a golf course for a different approach. For example, layer beige, bright green, dark green, blue and brown felt cut into the appropriate shapes to make a course with sand pits, water, rough and green. Use straws or toothpicks to act as poles and attach a small white flag to mark the holes on your miniature golf course. Or make place mats in different shapes out of coloured felt or synthetic grass if you'd prefer.

  5. 5

Put together centrepieces that complement your party. Fill clear vases with golf balls, small novelty golf clubs or golf tees. Use chocolate golf balls if you want the centrepieces to double as an extra treat for your guests. Tie a green ribbon around vases full of flowers and attach golf pins if you want something fancier.
