How to Unlock Trane Thermostats

Updated February 21, 2017

Your Trane thermostat contains a safety feature that allows its keypad to be locked. This prevents the temperature from being adjusted by unauthorised users. While this can be a very handy feature, it can also be frustrating. This is especially true if you are the owner of the thermostat and have forgotten how to unlock it when you need to change its settings.

Look at the screen on your thermostat. If it says, "Keypad Locked," the Trane thermostat is locked.

Position a finger over the "Up" arrow and a finger over the "Down" arrow. Press both buttons simultaneously.

Look at the thermostat screen again. If the screen no longer displays, "Keypad Locked," your Trane thermostat is unlocked and ready for any adjustments.

If "Keypad Locked" appears on the thermostat's screen, you will not be able to adjust the temperature or any settings of your Trane thermostat.
