If you have satellite TV service, you can connect to the Internet through your receiver. (Black remote control keypad for TV image by Konovalov Pavel from

Satellite TV requires users to use a special receiver to get the satellite TV signal and transform it into something that your television is capable of displaying on the screen. These receivers are now being made to support direct Internet connectivity and indirect Internet access through the use of adaptors such as Apple's Airport Express, home-plug Ethernet adaptors and wireless Internet adaptors. As long as you have a wireless router to distribute the wireless signal, you'll be able to connect your satellite TV system to the Internet.

  1. 1

Connect an Ethernet cable from the wireless router to the adaptor, whether it be an Airport Express or home-plug Ethernet adaptor and then connect the adaptor to an electrical socket in your home. Note that if you are using a wireless Internet adaptor, you can skip this step.

  2. 2

Connect an Ethernet cable from the satellite TV receiver to the wireless signal receiver of the Airport Express if you are using an Airport Express system. If you are using a home-plug Ethernet adaptor, then simply connecting the receiver to an electrical socket will connect the receiver to the Internet. If you are using neither the Airport Express nor a home-plug Ethernet adaptor, you can skip this step.

  3. 3

Connect the wireless Internet adaptor to one of the USB input ports at the back of the receiver. Note that if your receiver does not have a USB input port, then it likely does not have an Ethernet cable port either and is not capable of connecting to the Internet.

  4. 4

Enter the menu of your receiver and go to Internet options to set up the connection to the Internet. Note that if you are using the Airport Express or home-plug Ethernet adaptor, then you will most likely already be connected to the Internet without the need of further action. If you are using the wireless Internet adaptor, then you will need to input the specifics of your wireless network to connect to the Internet.
