Many users choose to add extra monitors to their computer. This is known as extending your desktop. One of the main benefits of extending your desktop is that you can multitask more easily. Additionally, extending an image, such as a photograph of a mountain range, across multiple monitors can make everyone in your office jealous as they walk by your desk. Fortunately, you can extend your wallpaper without having to purchase an expensive third-party program.

  1. 1

Right-click on your desktop wallpaper and select "Personalization" from the context menu. Alternatively, you can click 'Start" and type "personalization" into the "Search" box and press "Enter."

  2. 2

    Click "Desktop Background."

  3. 3

Click "Browse" and select the image that you would like to extend across your extended desktop. Note that the image must be at least as wide as the combined resolution of all the monitors that you are using. For example, if you have two monitors that are each 1280x1024, then the image you select must be at least 2560x1024.

  4. 4

Select "Tile" from the "Picture Position" drop-down menu.

  5. 5

Click "OK." Your wallpaper is now extended across your extended desktop.
