The Brother HL-4070 CDW allows rich colour and black and white printing, which makes it a good choice if you print a lot of graphics. To make those colours pop, take advantage of Brother's customisable colour settings by enhancing your colour or remove colour from a grayscale image to highlight its contrast. The Brother printer drivers offer two main techniques to adjust the colour. Select the method that best suits your needs.

Skill level:
Moderately Easy

Changing Color of a Print Job

  1. 1

Press the "Power" button that is located on the printer face to turn on your Brother printer. Connect the printer to your computer with the appropriate cable. Wait for the printer to turn on.

  2. 2

Open up the Brother printer driver using the "Start" menu. This allows you to change the printer settings.

  3. 3

Look for the tag reading "Color/Mono." The default setting is "Auto." Change this to "Mono" if you want to print in black and white. Then select "OK" to confirm this setting.

  4. 4

Select "File" then "Print" to print the document.

    Changing the Color Saturation

  1. 1

Open the Brother printer driver with your computer and printer connected as before. Turn your printer on. Look for two tabs, reading "Basic" and "Advanced." The "Basic" tab is the default. You can change the "Color/Mono" settings.

  2. 2

Select the "Advanced" tab. Look for a box that says "Color Mode."

  3. 3

Check the button next to your preferred colour mode by choosing "Normal," "Vivid" or "None." You can also check the boxes below to improve a grey colour or enhance black print colour. "Normal" is the default setting.

  4. 4

Check all of the options that you wish and click "Print" when you finish to print the document.
