How to System Restore MSDOS

Performing a system restore from MS DOS will allow you to restore your computer in Safe Mode using a command prompt. No matter what version of Windows operating system you use, restoring your computer from MS DOS is the same. Always remember to save any important files, documents or media files to a CD or DVD before performing a system restore.

    Log on to your computer as the administrator if you have more than one user on your computer.

    Restart your computer and, as it boots up, hold down the "F8" key. This will start your computer in MS DOS.

    Select the "Command Prompt" option.

    Type "%systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe" in the command prompt and press "Enter."
