Connecting a Dell Vostro laptop computer to a docking station can make the laptop more versatile. A docking station allows a laptop computer to function as a desktop replacement by providing easy access to printers, external hard drives, USB devices and other peripherals. A docking station also allows use of an external keyboard and mouse, instead of the touchpad and small keyboard that comes with the Vostro.
