Trouble Setting the Time on a Sony ICF-C492 Dream Machine

Updated March 23, 2017

Becoming acquainted with a new alarm clock can be frustrating, particularly if you are having trouble setting the time. Setting the time on the Sony ICF-C492 Dream Machine is not difficult, but the time-setting procedure must be followed step-by-step in order for you to successfully set the radio clock's time. Once you set the time, you can move on to setting the alarm, which will ensure that you wake up each morning on time.

Verify that the Sony Dream Machine is plugged in to your wall power outlet. If it's not, plug it in. You should see numbers displayed on the radio clock. This tells you that the power is on and the system is working correctly.

Move the "Alarm Time/Clock Set" switch all the way to the right to "Clock Set" mode. This switch is to the left of the "Snooze" button.

Press the "Fast +" button to the right of the "Snooze" button. This increases the time. There is no separate control for the hour and minutes. If you want to move in one minute increments, you can press the "+" button.

Press the "Fast -" button if you want to decrease the time. There is no "-" button for slowly decreasing the time. When you have set the time correctly, move the "Alarm Time/Clock Set" switch to the middle to the "Hold" position. This prevents someone from accidentally changing the time by pressing the adjustment buttons.
