Every cell phone has an IMEI number, which is a serial number or identification number assigned to the cell phone. An IMEI number is useful for various reasons, ranging from alerting the cell phone provider that your cell phone is lost is stolen, to stopping the phone from being used, to unlocking found cell phones to put them back into use again. The IMEI number is a 15-digit code that you find on the cell phone.

    Power your cell phone to the on position and wait for the screen to appear, indicating the cell phone is now ready for use.

    Dial "#06#" using the keypad on your cell phone. The unique IMEI number appears on the screen of your cell phone.
