Print out the template that you have chosen online. There are many websites that offer free printable templates to download and print out. Choose whether to use the printer paper or to trace the template onto a piece of poster board for a sturdier pair of eyeglasses. You can also draw your own design following a basic pattern or measurement for the eye hole placement.
Cut out the paper eye glasses. Some templates are very detailed, so use caution to stay on the lines to include all of the details. If small children are crafting, they may need the help of an adult when cutting or conceptualising. To cut out the eye holes of the glasses, cut a small slit in the paper in the middle of the eye hole that is big enough for the scissors to go in. Then cut the hole out.
Decorate the paper eyeglasses by colouring them and embellishing them. Using markers, glitter and glue, feathers, ribbon, scrapbook supplies and the like you can make your glasses into what you want. If there is a theme to the party or gathering, the glasses could reflect that theme. For example if the glasses are being worn at a Fourth of July parade, they could be decorated with red, blue and silver glitter, miniature flags and pinwheels. If the glasses are for a mascaraed party they could be decorated with feathers, beads and glitter to match an outfit or costume. Using the themed scrapbook art you can really get detailed decorating your glasses. So many styles can be employed to decorate your paper eyeglasses--an ideal craft project for most occasions.
Wear the glasses that you have crafted. Like any mask there can be limited sight reduction, especially to peripheral vision, so be careful when stepping up or down and side to side. If children are wearing paper eyeglasses, be sure to supervise them.
