How to Register a Garmin Nuvi 200W

After purchasing your Nuvi 200W GPS, you'll want to register it with Garmin. Product registration offers many benefits, including access to important software updates and patches, as well as notification from Garmin, should there be any safety defects (such as recalls) for your device. Registering your Nuvi 200W only takes a few minutes, and Garmin's web site allows you to register and check for software updates.

    Write down your Nuvi 200W product serial number. Look at the bottom of the device to find the serial number in the outlined box (remove the suction bracket, if necessary).

    Visit the Garmin product registration web site (See Resources section for link). Click on "Register Product," on "Automotive," and on "Create Account." Enter the necessary information to create an account (name, e-mail, etc.) then and click "Create."

    Enter your Nuvi 200W product serial number. After creating your account, you'll be automatically redirected to the product serial number page. Click "Next" after entering your product's serial number.

    Enter your address and telephone number, as Garmin may need to contact you at the address listed to inform you of important product updates or recalls. Click "Next" to complete the product registration.

    Connect your Nuvi 200W to your computer with the USB cable. This allows you to check for important software updates. After attaching the cable, click "My Dashboard" and "Check for Updates." If updates are available, they will automatically install onto your Nuvi 200W.
