Most HP laptops come prepackaged with software known as YouCam that works in conjunction with the built-in webcam on your laptop. This flexible software can do a number of things with your webcam including take snapshots, record videos and create special effects. If you have reinstalled Windows on your HP laptop or have previously uninstalled the YouCam software, you can visit the HP Support website to reinstall the necessary drivers. Be sure to download the correct version that matches your laptop model and the Windows version you are running, otherwise you might have come compatibility issues.

    Determine your HP PC model number which will be listed in the user manual or on an HP sticker located on the back of your laptop. You can also locate it in Windows by pressing "CTRL" + "ALT" + "S" on your keyboard. Write down the code next to "Product #."

    Visit the YouCam Software and download page and type your HP product number into the search field, then hit "Next." At the prompts, select the product from the list and the correct operating system you are using.

    Click on the YouCam webcam driver download from the drivers list, then click "Download only" to save the file.

    Double-click on the YouCam driver file to start the installation. The installer will guide you through an automated set-up.
