AVG Antivirus is a type of free antivirus protection offered for Windows based computers. AVG can scan your entire hard drive in an attempt to find any viruses that you may have accidentally downloaded via your Internet connection. Once located, AVG can also remove these viruses from your machine to maintain its security and integrity. You can turn on AVG Antivirus via the "Start" menu.

Click "AVG Antivirus."
Click the "AVG Antivirus" icon in this folder. This will turn on the AVG Antivirus protection on your computer. To start a scan, click the "Scan" button.
Tips and warnings
- There are two versions of AVG Antivirus, AVG "Free" and AVG Internet Security, which costs £35.7 as of August 2010. Both offer the same features in terms of antivirus protection, but AVG Internet Security offers a plethora of additional features like firewall protection, website authentication and phishing and spam protection for your e-mail address.
