How to Repair Foggy Headlight Lenses on a Mercedes

Updated April 17, 2017

Over time, headlight lenses become hazy and discoloured due to age and wear and tear. Foggy headlight lenses prevent the headlight beam from shining as brightly as possible on the road, and they make your Mercedes look old and not well kept. Cleaning headlight lenses is easy and a necessary step in the auto detailing process. Headlight lens cleaning products are safe to use on a Mercedes.

Place the buffer attachment on the standard drill. You can find a small buffer for a drill at an auto supply store.

Squeeze a quarter-size drop of headlight lens cleaning solution onto the buffer.

Place the bugger on a headlight lens and move the drill in small circles, buffing the headlight lens cleaning solution into all areas of the lens. You should spend 30 seconds to 1 minute buffing the lens.

Use a microfiber cloth to remove all of the cleaning solution. Your lens should look nearly brand new and should be clear and free of any discolouration. If you still see scratches or your lens looks foggy, repeat the process.

Things You'll Need

  • Standard drill with buffer attachment
  • Microfiber cloth
  • Headlight lens cleaning product
