How to Connect HDMI to RCA

Updated April 17, 2017

Recently manufactured video devices such as Blu-ray players and higher end DVD players sometimes only have HDMI output, as they are intended to function with high-definition televisions. Connecting these devices to older televisions with RCA inputs is possible, but at the price of audio and video quality. One only needs to obtain an HDMI-to-RCA converter cable in order to connect HDMI input devices to an RCA output device.

Connect the HDMI end of the HDMI-to-RCA cable to the HDMI input device.

Connect the red RCA plug to the red slot on the RCA device.

Connect the yellow RCA plug to the red slot on yellow RCA device.

Connect the white RCA plug to the white slot on white RCA device.
