How to Tell the Differences Between Real & Fake Prada Shoes

Prada is globally recognised as a top designer for men's and women's fashion, and commands a premium price for most of its product lines. Consumers looking to spend less money on their accessories---while still maintaining the appearance of a premium brand---may choose to buy a counterfeit, or fake, pair of Prada shoes. Prada has created certain anti-counterfeit measures for its designer shoes in order to maintain the integrity of its brand, while assuring customers of the company's commitment to quality products.

Skill level:

  1. 1

Remove the insole from the inside of the shoe. Real Prada shoes contain writing that says "Made in Italy" on the surface of the shoe, under the insole. Businesses that specialise in counterfeit Prada shoes often leave out this detail.

  2. 2

Check the sole of your shoe for the Prada logo. A fake Prada shoe usually has the Prada logo in a different font size, or even an alternate font.

  3. 3

Look at the box in which your Prada shoes were packaged. Prada labels its boxes very simply, usually including only a barcode and size at one end of the box. Fake Prada shoe boxes may have a large "Prada" logo on the box lid, accompanied by additional logos printed on the box.

  4. 4

Examine the bag inside of the shoebox in which your Prada shoes were originally packaged. Prada shoe bags are usually a silver plastic material with a silver drawstring. Counterfeit shoes will be encased in a black cloth or other material.

Tips and warnings

  • Never buy Prada shoes from unofficial retailers without first examining the shoes in person. Sellers who specialise in counterfeit shoes may not accept returns.
