Nero is one of the most widely-used video editing and burning suites for computer users, but the nag screen can seriously hinder performance. Since third-party encoders are licensed by Nero for compatibility, the nag screen will come up until you participate in the patent activation. The first time you try to get rid of this annoying screen you may be a bit confused, but it is a relatively simple process.
Connect your computer to the Internet.
Select "Start">"Control Panel">"Classic View." "Start" is located in the lower-left portion of your computer screen.
Double-click on the "Windows Firewall" and select "Allow a program through Windows Firewall."
Select "Add Program" and choose "Nero" from the generated program list.
Click "Browse" to search your computer for the "NeroPatentActivation.exe" and double-click on it.
Give verification for the Windows Firewall to allow access to the program by clicking "Ok" twice.
Open Nero and wait for the activation to be completed. The third party patent nag screen will come up no longer when it is finished.
Not completing the patent activation within the first 30 days on install will negate your ability to use the encoders.
