Norton Internet Security has an activation feature that makes it automatically activate when you begin to use your computer. If you have another type of Internet security service, or you do not wish to use Norton, there are some easy ways to turn off the automatic activation feature. Once its off, you may manually turn the program on again.

Right-click on the icon for Norton and select "Properties." Then select "Automatically start" or "Startup Automatically." Uncheck this box to turn off the activation.
Right-click on the icon in your system tray for Norton. Select "Exit" while the program is on. Click "Yes" to exit the program. Then click on your "Startup" folder in your start menu. If Norton appears in this folder, click on the name and click "Delete" on your keyboard. Once you delete Norton from your start-up menu, it will not automatically activate.
Click "Start," "Control Panel" and "Add/Remove Programs." Scroll through the programs until you find Norton. Click on it to remove it. Execute this step only if you have no intention of using the program again.
