How to Install Windows XP on an Acer Aspire One

An Acer Aspire One is a notebook designed as a cheaper and smaller alternative to larger laptops. The Acer Aspire One can run all Windows operating systems, although it is most commonly packaged with Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7. Installing Windows XP on the Acer Aspire One involves simply inserting the Windows XP disk and following a few steps.

    Insert the Windows XP disk into your CD or DVD drive. Restart your computer. A message will pop up upon restart that will ask you to "Press any key to boot from CD." Press any key to begin the Windows XP set-up.

    Press "Enter" at the "Welcome to Setup" screen. Press "F8" on the following screen to accept the terms and conditions.

    Select where you wish to format the partition to install Windows XP. Your choices will typically be either the "C:" or "D:" drives. Press "Enter." Press "Y" to confirm your decision. The installation of Windows XP will begin.

    Input your basic information, such as your name, address and time zone, after Windows XP has finished installing the necessary files and folders. Click "Next" after you fill out the required information on each screen.

    Elect whether you wish to set up a network, such as LAN or dial-up now or later.

  6. 6

    Click "Finish" to finalise the Windows XP installation.
