Viewing a computer display on a television is useful when sharing videos and photos with family and friends. A television screen can also provide a wider display for playing computer games. To connect a PC to a television set with an HDMI cable, both the computer and television must have an HDMI port. Some HDMI-enabled video cards don't support audio, which means the audio will not transmit to the TV set and you will have to listen to the audio through the computer speakers. In this case, connect a separate audio cable directly from the Audio Out jack on the PC and into the Audio In input on the TV.

Situate the PC near the television set. The two devices should be close enough so the HDMI cable can be inserted into both devices. Power on the computer and television.
Insert one end of the HDMI cable into the PC's "HDMI" port. The port may be located on the side or rear of a laptop, or the front or rear of the case for desktop systems.
Insert the other end of the HDMI cable into the television's "HDMI" port.
Select "Input" on the television remote and browse available inputs until you find the "HDMI" input option and select it. If you don't have a remote, select the "Menu" button on the TV and then select the input menu. Some TVs have more than one HDMI input option; browse each HDMI input until the computer screen appears on the TV.
