How Do I Get the Input to Work on a DirectTV Remote for a Sanyo TV?
You can program your DIRECTV remote control so it can be used to change the TV input setting on your Sanyo TV. (Blank TV image by Mario Ragsac Jr. from Fotolia.com)

In order to get the "TV INPUT" button on your DIRECTV universal remote control to work with your Sanyo TV, you must first program your DIRECTV remote to work with your Sanyo TV. After this initial set-up is complete you may use your DIRECTV remote to turn your Sanyo TV on and off, turn its volume up and down, or change the TV channel. If you want your DIRECTV remote control to also control your Sanyo TV's channel input setting you have to perform an additional procedure.

Instructions

  1. 1

    Turn your TV on.

  2. 2

Slide the mode switch located at the top of your DIRECTV remote control to the "TV" setting.

  3. 3

Press and hold the "MUTE" button (located directly underneath the "Volume Up and Down" key) simultaneously with the "SELECT" button (the round button located in the centre of the remote). Wait for the green light on the TV mode switch to flash two times, then let go of the buttons.

  4. 4

Enter the numbers 1 - 0 - 1 - 5 - 4 on your DIRECTV remote's number pad. This is the only set-up code listed in the DIRECTV universal remote manual for Sanyo TVs. If you have entered the code correctly, the TV mode switch will once again flash two times.

  5. 5

Aim the DIRECTV remote at your TV and press the remote's "Power" button. The TV should turn off if the remote was programmed properly. If the TV does not turn off, repeat Steps 2 through 5 again using alternate code (see the tips section of this article). You cannot proceed to the next section to program your DIRECTV universal remote control to control your Sanyo TV's channel input until you have completed this section.
