Standby mode is a power saving mode on your Seagate hard drive whereby the platters spin down while the drive retains power, allowing your computer to conserve energy. Remove this feature when you do not want the drive halting while the computer is active. This procedure can help to shave access time from the drive when pulling up files after a long period of inactivity.
