How to Design Perfume Gift Boxes
Handmade perfume gift boxes make wonderful anniversary or birthday presents. (Gift box image by Mahno from Fotolia.com)

Giving a friend or family member a perfume gift box is a great way to say you are thinking of them. Although you could purchase a commercially produced perfume box at a department store, it limits your choice of fragrance and product. One alternative is to create a perfume gift box using handmade items that you custom blend from perfumed essential oils that are more natural and gentle on the skin.

Instructions

  1. 1

Create the custom perfume blend. Combine a few essential oils to create a scent that you prefer. Pour 118ml. of the perfume blend into a perfume bottle, and screw the cap on tightly. Reserve the remaining oil for the other products.

  2. 2

Place the perfume bottle into the gift box.

  3. 3

Use some of the remaining blend to make handmade perfumed soap. Put on rubber gloves and protective goggles. Combine 198gr. of lye and 473ml. of water in a glass measuring cup. Combine 946ml. of olive oil and 473ml. of coconut oil into a pot, heating them over medium heat. Place a candy thermometer into both mixtures. When they both reach 37.8 degrees C, pour the lye water into the oils. Add in 28.4gr. of the perfume blend. Stir the mixture for 30 minutes until the mixture thickens. Pour the soap mixture into soap moulds, and place them into a cool, dark room for six weeks.

  4. 4

Place the perfumed soaps into the gift box.

  5. 5

Use the remaining blend to make perfumed lotion. Place 113gr. of beeswax into a double boiler and heat it over medium heat until it melts. Pour the beeswax, 59.1ml. of olive oil, 56.7gr. of aloe vera gel and 28.4gr. of the perfume blend into a blender. Blend the mixture in high for 5 minutes, then pour it into individual glass jars. Once cool, screw the lids onto the jars.

  6. 6

Place the perfumed lotion jars into the gift box.

  7. 7

Wrap a ribbon around the box, then give the perfume gift box to a friend or family member.
