A VGA or SVGA cable is a type of video connection that you can use to connect a laptop or digital cable set-top box to a high-definition television. While less popular than other high-definition video connections like HDMI or component cables, SVGA connectors are still used. Connecting an SVGA cable to your Samsung TV is quite simple and can be achieved in just a few simple steps.

Connect one end of the SVGA cable to your TV. The connector of the cable is oblong with one side slightly wider than the other. Make sure you connect the cable right-side-up so that all 15 pins fit in place. Slide the end of the SVGA cable onto the connection on your TV and then screw in the screws on either side of the connector until they are hand-tight.
Connect the other end of the SVGA cable to the other device in exactly the same manner. Ensure the connector is right-side-up and the screws are fully tightened.
Test the connection. Turn on the device you connected your SVGA cable to and tune your television to the VGA input by pressing the "Input," "Source," "TV/Video" or "Source Select" button on your remote. If you see a feed from the device, you have successfully connected your SVGA cable to your Samsung TV.
