How do I Check a Blackberry Messenger History?

Saving BlackBerry Messenger conversations gives BlackBerry owners a valuable tool in remembering important deadlines or upcoming meetings. If the proper settings are selected and turned on, this is a great way to remember your last few words in a conversation and continue if necessary. BlackBerry Messenger messages are encrypted, there is no legal way to log conversations other than the built in view message history option.

    Navigate back to the BlackBerry main screen. The screen with your wallpaper and application icons.

    Click on the "Instant Messaging" folder and then click on "BlackBerry Messenger" icon.

    Press the "BlackBerry" key and from the menu scroll down and select "Options" (above Back Up Contact List and below Show in Home Screen).

    Scroll down to the "Miscellaneous" category and select the "Save Message History" option. Select either "Device" or "Media Card" from drop down menu, if not already turned on.

    Click on a contact (one of the contacts you want to see your chat history with). Press the "BlackBerry" key and from the menu scroll down and select "View History." Select the appropriate date (year, month and day) of the conversation recorded you want to review.

Tips and warnings

  • The option to search for anything that was said by you or your contact, appears at the top of the Chat History screen.
  • Check local laws for your country or territory, in regards to privacy concerns. If legal, get permission from the contact before enabling conversation history.
