How to neutralize DHT on the scalp

Updated November 21, 2016

Dihydrotestosterone, also known as DHT, can cause baldness in men and women. Testosterone reacts with a particular enzyme, which results in DHT. Because men have more testosterone than women, more DHT is produced, causing baldness to occur much more frequently in men than in women. In order to stop hair loss, it's important to neutralise the DHT hormone that lives on the scalp.

Take a daily supplement that contains saw palmetto. It blocks the androgen receptor that interacts with testosterone, which causes DHT.

Take a daily supplement that contains soy isoflavone extracts. This extract lowers levels of DHT.

Drink a few cups of green tea throughout the day. On its own, green tea blocks DHT, but, when combined with soy isoflavone extracts, it is even more successful at blocking DHT.

Apply topical serums to your hair that neutralise DHT on the scalp. Propecia and Rogaine are just two examples of hair products that do this.

Things You'll Need
