Any file with an .mp4 extension is a video file that uses the MPEG-4 compression. This compression allows the file to be a reasonable size and the file to be read by any media player that has downloaded the required codec to open that type of compression. Avidemux is a freeware video editor that will allow you to combine two .mp4 files. One of the drawbacks of using Avidemux is that you will have to access a video time line and combine the two .mp4 files together yourself, rather than having the program do it for you.

MP4 Joiner will do the rest of the work for you.
