Many printers connect to a computer via USB connection. This will allow you to connect any computer quickly to the printer. The HP LaserJet 4200 printer offers a USB connection as well as 48MB of memory with an upgrade to 64MB. This HP printer also comes with a 500-page paper tray and quick printing. The HP 4200 has parallel ports; but, for newer computers that do not have parallel ports, you need USB connection.

Instructions

  1. 1

Turn off the power to your printer. Access the rear of the printer and disconnect the power cord.

  2. 2

Plug the USB cable into the USB port on the rear of the printer. Reconnect the power cord and return the printer to its original position. The USB cord should hang free from the printer to ensure easy use.

  3. 3

Power the printer on and connect the free end of the USB cable into a USB port on your computer. Most computers will allow the printer to download the driver needed. If the driver does not download automatically, insert the installation CD into your computer's disk drive.

  4. 4

Print a test page from the computer to check the connection.
