Some laptops stop booting because certain files in the master boot record or the boot loader became corrupted. Your operating system comes prepared for the tools to solve this problem within its two recovery environments. If your computer at least manages to load the Windows logo while attempting a boot, you can actually use the “Last Known Good Configuration” feature to try to boot Windows.

Restart your computer and press F8 just before the Windows logo comes on.
Select “Last Known Good Configuration.” If this doesn’t load your operating system, go on to the next step
Place your operating system CD/DVD in your DVD drive and restart the computer. Press any key when prompted and press “R” as soon as you see the “Welcome” screen.
Write the following command in the recovery console you just summoned: bootcfg /Rebuild. Restart your computer after the process finishes.
