How do I unlock torrent downloads?

Updated July 19, 2017

When you try to download a movie, song or anything else using a Torrent, the first file you get is the ".torrent" file. This file is merely a reference to the movie or piece of music you're trying to download. If you don't use a Torrent program to activate the Torrent, you won't be able to download the content. Fortunately there are plenty of free options online that allow you to unlock the Torrent and download your file.

Download and install uTorrent. See the link in the Resources section of this article. Double-click on your .torrent file. The uTorrent program loads, and you'll see your file transfer begin in the main uTorrent screen.

Navigate to Bitlet. See Resources. Click on the "Select local .torrent" button on the site's main page. A Browse window opens. Double-click your .torrent file. Click the "download torrent" button. The transfer of your file begins on the website.

Download and install Bit Torrent. See the link in Resources. Right-click on your .Torrent file on your computer. Select "Open with" in the drop-down menu that appears. Select "Bit Torrent" from the options there. The program opens and begins your file transfer.
