Certain models of HP laptop computers come with a video webcam built into the unit's case. This webcam will be located directly about the laptop's LCD monitor screen and can be used for still pictures, full-motion videos as well as Internet video conferencing. Your HP computer will come with the software required to use the webcam already installed, so to begin using your new toy all you really have to do is start the appropriate program.

    Press the "Quickplay" button on your HP laptop computer's keyboard. This will bring up a row of icons on screen.

    Click the second icon you see on screen. This will bring up a list of "Quickplay" shortcut icons related to the various media features on your HP laptop. Click on the icon that reads "HP Webcam." This launches your computer's webcam software and turns the device on.

    Look into the video window you see on screen to see the image that your HP webcam is going to capture. You can use this window to properly line up your webcam for videos or snapshots.

    Click the "Take a Snapshot" button in the HP webcam program window to take a single still photograph using your HP webcam.
