The Human Papilloma Virus, also known as HPV, causes all types of warts. Different strands of HPV cause different types of warts. Just like any virus in your body, you can treat the symptoms until your immune system is able to defeat the virus. When treating your warts, keep in mind that HPV can take more time to get out of your system than other viruses like the flu or cold viruses. The most important thing to remember when treating warts is to keep the area of skin clean and dry to avoid further infestation or irritation.

Things you need
- Fresh garlic
- Dandelion stem
- Lemon or banana peel
- Vitamin C tablets
Soak your warts in hot water. Warts, especially plantar warts, are sensitive to heat. Bring the water to a high temperature; get it as hot as possible without burning your skin. Soak for as long as possible or until the water begins to cool. The heat will soften the wart and help kill the virus. With the wart softened you can gently remove dead wart skin with an emery board. Be careful not to create irritation or bleeding with the emery board.
Pick a dandelion and apply the sap to your wart. The sap is located in the stem and will drip out slowly. The sap aggravates your skin and stimulates your immune system to get to work in that specific area of your body.
Rub fresh garlic directly onto your wart. This causes the wart to blister and eventually fall off. The blistering, like the aggravation of the dandelion sap, sends an indicator to your immune system to help heal that area and kill the virus. To avoid blistering your healthy skin around the wart, rub on petroleum jelly before applying the garlic.
Tape the inside of a lemon or banana peel to your wart before you go to bed. This treatment does not work by aggravating your skin and alerting your immune system. Instead, it takes the oils and chemicals from the peels and dissolves the wart.
Directly apply Vitamin C. You can use Vitamin C to fight off HPV just like you would use it to fight off other viruses. Create a thick mixture out of water and Vitamin C pills or tablets and apply it directly to your wart under a bandage or piece of duct tape.
Tips and warnings
- Do not attempt to remove genital warts with these methods. Genital warts must be treated differently because of their sensitive location on the body and because there is no known cure for the HPV strand that causes them.
