A wrist wallet is a bracelet that has a small zippered pocket on the front of it that allows you to carry money, credit cards or keys without having to lug an entire bag with you. Because the wallet has a zipper, you can safely wear it while out jogging or during other exercise without having to worry about the contents falling out. You can even make one for a child to wear to school and put in a little note from you for them to read during the course of their day.

  1. 1

Cut one piece of fabric to 8-½ inches long and 3 inches wide with scissors. This piece is for the back of the wallet.

  2. 2

Cut out two pieces of fabric for the zippered part of the wallet. The two pieces need to be 3-½ inches long and 1-¾ inches wide.

  3. 3

Cut two other pieces of fabric for the front pieces that will go along side the zippered portion. Make these pieces 3-inch squares.

  4. 4

Sew a 3-inch long zipper to the long sides of the fabric for the zippered part of the wallet. Use a sewing machine with a zipper foot to make a ¼-inch seam on the fabric pieces.

  5. 5

Lay the piece of fabric with the attached zipper, so the zipper is horizontal and facing down.

  6. 6

Lay the front side pieces on either side of the zippered piece so that you get one long strip of equal width. Sew the two side pieces to the zippered piece with a long vertical stitch attaching the fabric together.

  7. 7

Spread the piece of fabric for the back of the wallet horizontally in front of you, with the nice side facing up. Place the long zippered strip on top of the back piece, with the zipper facing down.

  8. 8

Sew the two strips of fabric together along both horizontal edges and one vertical edge. Make a ¼-inch seam. Turn the fabric right side out so the raw edges are inside and the zipper opens on the outside.

  9. 9

Fold in the fabric on both sides of the open edge of the wallet, so the raw edges are inside and stitch that end closed. The fabric should be folded in by ¼ inch.

  10. 10

Make vertical stitches on either side of the zippered part of the wallet. This will keep whatever you put in the wallet from sliding around inside the wallet band.

  11. 11

Sew the soft strip of hook and loop adhesive vertically on the underside of the very left edge of the wallet band.

  12. 12

Attach the rough piece of adhesive to the top of the right end of the band.

Tips and warnings

  • You can adjust the fabric measurements as long as you keep them in proportion to maintain an even finished band.
  • Measure the fabric around your wrist before you cut it to make sure it will not be too tight and hurt you while you are wearing it.
