My Sony Vaio Is Unable to Connect to the Internet: the Status Is Connected

Your Sony Vaio is a laptop computer that you can use to access the Internet. If you are online with your Vaio and it says the status is connected, you might assume that you can get online. However, if you find that you can't get online, even though it says connected, there are a few things that you can do to troubleshoot the issues.

    Restart your computer. Even if it says connected, it could have lost the connection and not updated this fact. When you restart the computer, you will be able to see whether or not it connects again. If it doesn't, you probably have an Internet problem and you should try restarting your modem and router to see if this fixes the problem. If it doesn't, contact your Internet Service Provider.

    Right click on the Internet connection if it still says it is connected although you cannot access the Internet and choose "disable", then choose "enable" to re enable the Internet connection.

    Try another Internet site. It could be that the site you are trying to access is not working, which makes it look as though the rest of the Internet is not working.
