Malware Trace, also known as Trace Sweeper, is a malicious program designed to look like a legitimate anti-malware program. Malware Trace pretends to scan your computer and then notifies you that you are infected with malware. In order to remove the malware, Malware Trace recommended that you purchase the "full version" of Malware Trace. This is, however, a ploy to get you to communicate your financial information. In reality, there is no "full version" of Trace Sweeper. It's just a remote hacker waiting to view your credit card numbers.

    End Processes

    Press "Ctrl" + "Shift" + "Escape" to open the Task Manager.

    Click on the "Processes" tab and then click on "Show Processes From All Users."

  3. 3

    Right-click on "tracesweeper.exe" under "Image Name" and select "End Process."

  4. 4

    Right-click on "tracesweeper_setup[1].exe" under "Image Name" and select "End Process."

  5. 5

    Close the Task Manager.

    Delete Files

    Click "Start" and then click on the "Search Programs and Files" box.

  2. 2

    Search for and delete each of the following files. To delete a file, right-click on it and select "Delete."



    "Uninstall Trace Sweeper.lnk"

    "Trace Sweeper.lnk"

    "Trace Sweeper on the Web.lnk"

    Restart your computer.
