  1. 1

Write your number on the strap of the glove. Writing your number on the strap will allow you to identify it as yours. Since most football gloves look similar it is a good idea to mark yours in this way so that it will stand out. You could also write in any other symbol that you would like in lieu of your number. You will still be able to identify your glove by the unique marking but will also be able to have it even more customised.

  2. 2

Write a motivational message in marker on the palm of each glove. These messages can be anything from a few short words to a passage from the Bible. Players choose to write messages to themselves in the palm of their gloves to remind them of certain things as the game is going on. Most players will write different sayings on the palms of each glove. Doing this allows you to customise your gloves in a special way.

  3. 3

Cut the fingertips off of your gloves for added feel. Some players, especially quarterbacks, like to cut the tips of the fingers off of their gloves. This will help the player have a better grip and feel for the ball. Since quarterbacks have to throw the ball most of them do this to increase their accuracy. Doing this will allow you to have the best of both worlds as you get the benefits of wearing a glove, which provides hand warmth and palm grip, but you also benefit from feeling the ball with your fingertips on the release.

Tips and warnings

  • Cutting the fingertips off the gloves will allow you to wear them longer if your hands are still growing.
  • Check with the coach before writing anything on a glove as it may be in violation of team rules.
