How to Eject a Disc From a Dell Laptop

Disc drives in your Dell laptop can do many things: They can play DVD movies, CDs full of music and write and record data discs. These drives are mounted in a bay on either the side or front of your Dell laptop, depending on the model. Ejecting a disc from your Dell laptop can be done in a number of ways. In normal operation, the disc can be ejected by the "Eject" button or your software problem. If problems arise, there is an "Emergency Eject" that you can use to remove stuck discs.

Stop the disc rotating before opening. If you are watching a movie or listening to music on the disc, click "Stop" on your media player.

Press the "Eject" button on the side of the disc player. The disc will pop out in the tray. Remove the disc by the edges and close the tray.

Press the "Eject Disc" button in your media player as an alternative--this will eject the disc using your media player software.

Stop the disc from rotating before opening. If you are watching a movie or listening to music on the disc, click "Stop" on your media player.

Insert a paper clip or a small piece of wire or plastic into the small circular opening next to the eject button on the side of the disc drive. The disc will pop out in the tray.

Remove the disc by the edges and close the tray.
