"GRID" is a popular video racing game enjoyed by console and PC gamers. Unfortunately for the PC player, the keyboard and mouse configuration is not the most effective for race controls. Consequently, PC gamers are turning to the PS3 SIXAXIS controller to play the game. All you need is a small driver file to control your "GRID" racers with a SIXAXIS controller.

Navigate to the Quick Jump link in "References" below and download the SIXAXIS drivers for the PC.

  2. 2

Extract the files to a folder on your PC desktop for easy access.

  3. 3

Plug your PS3 SIXAXIS controller into your PC using the USB charging cable.

  4. 4

Run the "ps3sixaxis_en.exe" file in your new folder.

  5. 5

Press the "PS" button on the centre of your SIXAXIS controller.

  6. 6

Access your PC's Control Panel. Click "Game Controllers," and then "Properties." Press the buttons on your SIXAXIS controller and move the analogue sticks while watching the respective button and stick images on the screen. If the buttons are lighting up, your controller is properly connected.

  7. 7

Boot up your PC copy of "GRID." Access the "Controls" menu and set up gamepad controls to your liking. Each button is assigned a number, which is then assigned to a different function such as acceleration or braking. For more information about the assigned numbers, check out the first link in "References."

  8. 8

Save your new gamepad settings to play "GRID" with the SIXAXIS controller.

Tips and warnings

  • Customise the controller settings according to your preferences. For instance, if you prefer to use the right trigger to accelerate your car, assign acceleration to Button 10. If you prefer to use the "X" button to accelerate your car, assign acceleration to Button 15.
