How to Install XP on a Toughbook CF-30 With a SATA Hard Drive

Updated April 17, 2017

The Panasonic Toughbook CF-30 is a full-sized laptop computer with a SATA hard drive. This means that you will have to install the SATA drivers for the computer prior to the Windows XP installation, as XP contains no native drivers for SATA hardware devices. Accomplish this by using the SATA driver disk that shipped with your Panasonic computer.

Insert the XP CD into the Toughbook CF-30. Restart the laptop.

Press any key when prompted to boot from CD. Press "F6" when prompted to install the third-party SATA drivers.

Insert the SATA disk and select the drive containing the disk to install the SATA drivers for your Toughbook.

Press "Enter" at the XP Welcome screen and "F8" at the license agreement.

Highlight your SATA drive and press "Enter" to install XP.
