The Toshiba P200 laptop is designed so that users can replace basic components, such as the hard drive. Turn off your Toshiba P200 and remove the power cable if it's connected. Close the computer and turn it over.
Press the release latch just above the battery and slide the battery out of its compartment on the bottom of the computer. Locate the rectangular hard drive compartment. It is the compartment on the side of the computer opposite from the battery compartment and is secured with a single screw.
Remove the single screw holding the hard drive compartment cover in place and remove the cover. The hard drive will now be exposed in the compartment.
Slide the hard drive toward the side of the compartment with open space to unplug it from the main board and lift the drive out of the compartment. Your hard drive is removed, and you can now replace it with a new one.
