How to Open a Dell 8400 Computer Case

The Dell 8400 desktop computer, like many desktop computers, allows users to open the system unit casing in order to service the PC, clean the internal components and upgrade cards and memory. Opening the computer case for a Dell 8400 is designed to be easy for even those lacking experience when it comes to servicing computers. Before opening your Dell 8400s computer case, wash and dry your hands thoroughly and make sure to ground yourself by touching a metal surface before you access the computer's internal components.

    Shut down your computer.

    Disconnect any wires and cables connected to the computer's system unit and unplug the computer's power cable from the wall outlet or surge protector.

    Place the computer flat on its left side with the back end facing you. The arrows printed on the computer case should be pointing toward the ceiling.

    Push in the release button on the right and left sides of the computer as you lift the cover to pop it open.

    Remove the case using one hand while holding the computer steady with the other.
