How to Add a Dell Printer to an Acer Aspire Laptop

Acer Aspire laptop computers are equipped with USB ports for connecting equipment, such as a Dell printer, using a standard USB cable. Dell printers come with software and drivers on a CD-ROM that must be installed on the laptop using the CD-ROM drive before the computer can communicate with the printer. The software installation takes a few minutes by following the on-screen instructions, then connecting the printer with the USB cable.

Insert the software CD that comes with the Dell printer into the CD-ROM drive.

Start the CD if it does not start automatically by clicking the flag button in the lower left corner of the Acer screen to select "Computer" and double-click the drive labelled "D."

Click the on-screen prompt buttons to load the Dell printer software and drivers on the Acer Aspire laptop.

Connect the USB cable to one of the ports on the left edge of the Acer when prompted by the software screen, turning the cable plug so the arrow faces upward.

Plug the other end of the cable into the USB port on the back of the Dell printer in the upper right corner, then turn on the printer by pressing the "Power" button.

Continue installing the software by clicking the buttons on the Acer laptop screen, then restart the computer when finished.
