Tecra is a line of laptop computers manufactured by Toshiba. A wide range of models exist within the Tecra line, ranging in power and performance. Every Toshiba Tecra laptop uses a Basic Input/Output System, or BIOS, to control some of the computer settings. Protecting the BIOS with a password prevents unauthorised users from changing settings. The BIOS password can be deleted if there is no risk of unauthorised use.
Shut down the Toshiba Tecra computer. Wait at least 30 seconds before continuing.
Turn the Tecra laptop on. Press and hold the "Esc" key.
Release the "Esc" key when the BIOS password screen appears.
Type in the current BIOS password. Press "Enter."
Press and hold the "F1" key until the BIOS menu appears.
Press the arrow keys to navigate to the Password field. Press the "Enter" key.
Press the arrow keys to highlight "Registered." Press the space bar.
Type in the current BIOS password. Press the "Enter" key. The password is deleted.
Press the "F10" key to save the changes and exit the BIOS menu.
Removing the BIOS password allows anyone with access to the computer to change BIOS settings.
