How to Check the Battery Power on a Computer's Desktop on XP

The battery to your computer may end up running low, causing the computer to shut down while you are working on it. This can lead to a loss of work that had not been saved previously. It is important to be able to easily access the status of your computer's battery when you need to so that you can protect your work.

    Turn on your computer by pressing down on the power button with your index finger. At the bottom of your desktop you will have a task bar. On the right of your task bar, you will see a few small icons.

    Click with the right button of your mouse on an icon that is shaped as a battery. This will open a pull-down menu.

    Click on the title "Adjust Power Properties." This will open a window titled "Power Options Properties."

    Click on the tab titled "Power Meter." This will open the power status of your battery.

    Click "OK" to close this window.
