As with other online banks, your Barclays checking, saving or other account information including balances are accessible online through the Barclays website. The bank even lets you transfer funds between accounts and print off monthly transaction reports. But the Barclays online banking service doesn't let you set up a new account, pay bills online or discuss account issues within the account. The online service is handy when you need to check your bank balance while reconciling your checkbook or other financial records as well as seeing whether a specific transaction has cleared.

Open your computer's Internet browser. Click on the "Barclays Secure Online Banking" link in the Resources section.
Enter your last name in the "Surname" box. Enter your Barclays membership number in the "Membership number" box.
Click "Next." Enter your Barclays passcode in the "Five digit passcode" box.
Click on the down arrow next to the wording "Letter 2 of your memorable word" and select the second letter of the memorable word you set up during the initial online banking registration.
Click on the down arrow next to the wording "Letter 8 of your memorable word" and select the eighth letter of the memorable word you set up during the initial online banking registration.
Click "Login." Your Barclays account information will appear on the "Barclays secure online banking" screen.
Click "Log out" to exit your Barclays online account. Note, if you forget to log out of your account, the online service will automatically log you out after a period of inactivity.
