Aladdin lamps are a unique way to add ambience or provide light when the power goes out. Installing a wick on an Aladdin lamp is slightly different than most oil lamps. The wick is moulded at the top to fit around the wick tube that raises up and down. Instead of threading a wick through a slot, the wick slides on a tube with a clamp securing it in place. Replacement wicks are available wherever Aladdin lamps are sold.

  2. 2

Remove the cylindrical flame spreader and the wick tube away from the burner assembly. Pull off the wick raiser clamp that surrounds the tube and wick. Grasp the old wick at the top of the assembly with a pair of needle-nose pliers, and pull the wick away from the assembly.

  3. 3

Remove the cylindrical flame spreader and the wick tube away from the burner assembly. Pull off the wick raiser clamp that surrounds the tube and wick. Grasp the old wick at the top of the assembly with a pair of needle-nose pliers, and pull the wick away from the assembly.

  4. 4

Set the inner wick tube back into the top centre of the burner assembly. Place the flame spreader on top of the wick tube until it snaps into place. The flame spreader acts as a guide for the wick.

  5. 5

Hold the replacement wick over the wick tube with the two ends between the tube and the inside of the burner. Gently lower the wick over the tube, while pulling the paper ends of each wick end through the wick burner. The round wick top has a marking on the inside. Slide the wick down until the top of the tube is even with the mark.

  6. 6

Pull the paper ends off of the wick and place the wick raiser around the wick and wick tube. Place the burner assembly over the lamp base. Insert the wick ends into the lamp base and screw the burner assembly to the base until it is tight.

  7. 7

Place the gallery over the burner assembly and set the lamp globe over the gallery.
