Sometimes searching through peer-to-peer programs to find media you need can be tedious. You may have to sort through hundreds of links just to find what you need. Using Google and Rapidshare may be a solution when you want to find a movie to download quicker.

Skill level:

  1. 1

Go to Google. Rapidshare does not have a search function on its site, so in order to find the movie you are looking for to download, you will have to use an outside search engine such as Google.

  2. 2

Type in “” followed by the name of the movie you want to download into the search bar. If you simply search for the name of the movie you want to download, you will find mostly fan sites and promotional materials. You will need to wade through hundreds of pages in the Google search results before you get anywhere near a Rapidshare download. If you simple search “rapidshare” and the name of the film you want to download, you will get many links to portal download sites that may not be safe for your computer to visit. By typing in “site:” you are filtering your search to results that appear on

  3. 3

Download the file directly from the site once you find a file download URL for the film you want to watch. Rapidshare renders files in a .rar format, which is an archival file format. You have two download options. You can pay to become a premium user for a quicker download, or you can stay a free user for a slower download. Once you decide, click either “Premium user” or “Free user” under the speedometer icons. If you click the free user option, you will have to wait 110 seconds. Premium users will be able to download the file immediately. Once the site tells you can download, click the blue download icon.

  4. 4

Download the file using a download manager. There are many programs that you can use to manage your Rapidshare downloads. RapidLeecher, Raptor and RapGet are a few of these programs. These programs only require you to have the download page's URL, which you can obtain right from Google search's results page.

Tips and warnings

  • Only obtain films you have permission to download. It is illegal to download pirated films. There are many classic films that are considered public domain that are legal to download. See Resources for a list of these films.
  • Rapidshare does not virus check any uploads. Do not open a .rar file before running it through an antivirus software.
